Regenerative Travel Matters! Here’s how we are supporting it!

Travel as a catalyst for social change!

Regenerative travel is a new and exciting concept that is gaining popularity in the travel industry. It is a holistic approach to travel that goes beyond sustainable tourism and aims to actively restore and rejuvenate the destinations we visit. This approach is based on the idea that travel can be used as a tool for positive change, and that by working together, we can create a better future for the places we love. This concept was the foundation for why we started Sororal, with our focus being on equality for women and girls, and using travel as the catalyst to help us make that change.

As a travel company, we believe there are many ways we can help make a difference and support regenerative travel. One of the most important is by investing in and supporting local economies. When crafting our itineraries, we make every effort to build relationships with businesses that are owned or led by local women, or that otherwise  demonstrate a meaningful commitment to supporting women and the local community through their business practices. We do so to honour the principle of regenerative travel and to promote the perspectives of women and girls globally. By actively supporting women, we are ensuring the benefits of tourism are shared by all members of the community, and that local people have a stake in the preservation of their natural and cultural heritage.

Another important aspect of regenerative tourism is investment in projects that promote conservation and restoration of natural resources. Sororal actively pursues partners that support reforestation efforts, protect endangered species, and work with local communities to promote and protect cultural heritage. We encourage others within the travel and tourism industry to educate themselves and their clients about the importance of responsible travel. As a standard practice, it’s always beneficial to provide up-to-date information on sustainable tourism practices, such as how to reduce waste and carbon emissions, and encourage travelers to be mindful of their impact while on the road.

As individuals, we encourage you to support regenerative travel by making conscious choices while travelling. This could include choosing destinations that are working towards sustainable and regenerative tourism, or supporting local (women-led!) businesses and community initiatives. You can also work on reducing your impact by choosing eco-friendly accommodations and consuming locally-sourced food.

Regenerative travel is a crucial concept (and not just a buzz word!) that has the potential to transform the travel industry and create a more sustainable future for the places we love. By supporting regenerative travel, both as travel industry professionals and as individuals, we can play a vital role in creating positive change and protecting the planet for future generations. As travel and tourism is starting to come back online with a vengeance, we have the opportunity to set new norms and rebuild opportunities for women in this industry around the world. We’re thrilled to be building a company that drives that momentum forward and so happy to invite you to be a part of it.
